Response Project: Glasgow Live Music Venues in 2020

This is the Response Project, based on the live music venues in Glasgow. All of the live music venus remained closed during the lockdown in 2020, due to coronavirus pandemic. Live music industry is being challenged the most, together with the other creative industries.

Some of the venues briefly opened as social distanced pubs, when that was allowed; some took a chance to use the space for recording videos. With lockdown getting stricter even those possibilities were taken away, in order to get control over quickly spreading virus. There are still no date and faintest idea, when the live music venues will be able to open up and function as such. The whole industry is struggling, including musicians, venues owners, various venues staff, sound and light engineers, security companies which specialise in securing live music shows, promoters, bookers - the list is long. Most importantly, the society needs their culture dose, their entertainment in order to keep the mental health in balance. This being said, something has to be done, in order to save the venues, save the live music industry from collapsing during the pandemic so the music gigs could go on after the end of pandemics.

This project main purpose - to raise the awarness of the current situation the live music venues in Glasgow (and not only) are at and help them to cope with challenges it raise.

Typology project Closed Doors sends the same message in slightly different way, so I would consider it going hand in hand with the main project, in terms of promoting and presenting both of them.
